Kada se pogleda selo ko selo smješteno je na obali Dunava u blizini Smedereva ali
ima jako čudno ime.
Ime sela je Udovice i takav naziv nosi skoro dva vijeka.
U selu je oko dvije hiljade stanovnika od tog broja je stotinu trideset udovica.
Radilo se jedno istraživanje koje je pokazalo da postoji više predanja o nastanku imena sela.
Nekada ranijue to je bilo selo Podgorica u kome je despot Vuk kaznio mještane kađnjavanjem
njih sedamdeset pogubljenjem radi skrivanja Alibega.
Tada su u selu ostale samo udovice pa je selo tako dobilo i ime .
Od sela u Opštini Smederevo a selo Udovice ima najuređenije groblje.
